How To Develop The Bicep Peak
Today’s exercise is a great one for starting off the New Year. A preloaded Spider Curl is a bicep curl done on the backside or a vertical preacher bench. The vertical angle maintains tension during peak contraction where you’ll want to hold for 2 seconds to reap the benefit of this position. You’ll notice I start the rep and then stop for a second. This preload aspect sends a signal to your central nervous system to better isolate the muscle being worked in this case the bicep. Grasping the dumbbell in an offset position (I hold the inner half the handle) helps to supinate the wrist thereby isolating the bicep as externally rotating the humerus is another function of the bicep. I also will break back or let my wrist go slightly limp to disengage the forearm flexors slightly putting more emphasis on the biceps yet again. Excellent exercise for developing the peak of the bicep.
