Early To Rise

As I was getting ready this morning I had a revelation. I noticed that a successful morning routine, the things one does every morning before anything else, is a prerequisite for a successful day.

My successful routine now seems to consist of shower, dress, feed animals, take various supplements, eat eggs and oatmeal, drink a tea and 1L of water. This is opposed to the “Oh s*#t I’m late routine!” face wash and granola bar out the door.

My morning success routine sounds simple enough, and it is.

The point is, is that this takes time and if I slept in an extra 10-15 minutes I wouldn’t have it. My whole day would be thrown off because I just couldn’t get up.

When I first started training I experienced success early.

My secret?

I knew I needed to eat so I got up an hour earlier than I had to every morning and ate, ate, ate. 2 bowls of slow cooked oatmeal with a apple diced into it with cinnamon and milk, 2 bowls of cheerios, 1 bagel with cream cheese, 1 glass of orange juice and a 2000 calorie weight gain shake.

It was work but it set my day up for another good workout, high energy and success, which lead to more success.

The next time you are in bed watching the same episode of Seinfeld for the 17th time remember your morning success routine, the time it takes and shut the TV off.
